TasteBudd provides users with restaurant recommendations by like-minded users in the TasteBudd community. We got tired of sifting through tons and tons of reviews/ratings on the web to find good eats so we decided to create our own community and sprinkled some collaborative filtering techniques to produce recommendations that are very relevant to our users.
TasteBudd users can bookmark, rate, write reviews, upload photos on restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. Users can also invite their friends to restaurants with only a few clicks. We want to make our users' life easier by providing them with tools to discover great restaurants, organize their own directory of restaurants, and share their experiences with others.
[top]Why not? =) By signing up with TasteBudd, you will have free access to a community of people passionate to finding and eating good food, regardless if the food is at a hole-in-the-wall or a gourmet restaurant. You don't have to be a "foodie" to fit in, but we won't hold it against you if you have superb tastebudds and keen obervations on food.
The other benefit for signing up with TasteBudd is that you we can personalize you search results based on the profile that you've provided us. It's the same concept as asking a friend who shares similar taste preferences with you for restaurants recommendations.
We are also working on deals with restaurant owners to offer discounts only to TasteBudd registered users. Stayed tuned for the discount coupons!

[top]A taste buddy, or buddy is a member of your circle of friends/acquaintances. You share your recommendations/reviews, activities, and other information with your taste buddy just as you would in the real world. We believe that eating is a social thing, and keeping friends informed of good eats is one of our main missions at TasteBudd.
[top]There are several ways of inviting your friends to become your taste buddy.
You can find a restaurant by entering the name of a restaurant or keywords (e.g. cuisine, menu item, special features, etc...) and the location (e.g. city/state, zip code or region like South Bay, Peninsula, etc...) in the search section on the main page, or the search section on the top navigation area of most of the pages on TasteBudd.
[top]We regularly update our restaurant contact information database, but there are going to be restaurants that we've missed because there are so many restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, and new restaurants pop up and old restaurants retire. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and we are working harder to make our restaurant contact information as comprehensive as possible. Also, we are looking to dedicated users such as yourself to help us improve that database.
[top]If you don't find the restaurant you're looking for, you can either click on the Add Restaurant link in the search section on the main page, or the Add Restaurant button at the bottom of the restaurant search result page. Your restaurant submission will be reviewed by a TasteBudd staff member and posted online shortly after its approval.
[top]To add a review you can click on the Add Review link on the main page. Find the restaurant first and click on the Add Review link of the restaurant search result page. Alternatively, if you are already on the restaurant detail page, you can click on the Add Review button to add a review.
[top]To add food photos, first find the restaurant. Refer to the section on "How do I find a restaurant?" for more information on finding the restaurant. Once you are on the restaurant detail page, click on the Add Photos link. You are able to add 5 photos and descriptions of the photos at one time. Please upload photos that is approriate for that restaurant and follow the terms of service guidelines.
